 The Mary Newland's Almshouses

Municipal Charities Stratford Upon Avon - Mary Newland Almshouses

This charity provides a group of 4, Grade 2 listed cottages near to the town centre. Each cottage comprises a living room and newly-fitted kitchen on the ground floor, with a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. Each property has a small garden area and there is an on-site laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

The Mary Newland's Almshouses provide low-cost accommodation for needy, elderly people from the town of Stratford upon Avon. As with our other properties, there are certain restrictions laid down in the Governing Deed, details of which will be provided to applicants.

At some stage in the future, the trustees hope to reinstate the ornamental railings on the front walls. These were removed to help with the first world war effort and were never replaced.

Thanks to generous grants from the Stratford-upon-Avon Town Trust and the Baron Davenport's Charity, a considerable amount of the external stonework on the front aspect has recently been replaced.
