Bloomin’ Marvellous

​We ared delighted to say that St Joseph’s Homestead, another local almshouse charity administered by the trustees of the Municipal Charities of Stratford upon Avon, was awarded first place in the Community Category in this year’s Stratford in Bloom competition. Well done to the residents and Nick Stephens (gardener).

Change of Chairman

The Trustees would like to say a massive thank you to the Grants Committee of the Stratford Town Trust for the magnificent grant of £22,000 awarded towards the cost of refurbishing the stone porches at the Mary Newland’s Almshouses. Hertitage Open Days 2011

Unfortunately, our organisation will not be participating in the Heritage Open Days Event this year.  Nevertheless, if you are visiting Stratford-upon-Avon, you will still have the opportunity to view the outside of our traditional almshouses in Church Street, located next to the King Edward VI School.

Town Trust Lends its Support

Our trustees and residents are delighted that the Town Trust has awarded a ‘hardship grant’ for the benefit of the residents of one of our almshouse charities.   The Trust gave £1,000 towards the cost of secondary glazing for the front windows at The Mary Newland’s Almshouses in Guild Street.  Although the windows have sealed double-glazed units, our property surveyor recommended …
