A charity based in Stratford upon Avon with a long tradition of providing supported housing and financial assistance for local people

Our mission is to...

Provide low-cost, self-contained accommodation for older people of limited financial means

Give emergency financial assistance to local individuals and families in their hour of need

The organisation has a long and detailed history of helping local people with housing and grants facilitated via a number of charities set up by well-meaning bodies, philanthropic individuals and families connected with Stratford upon Avon. Over the years, a number of various charities have amalgamated resulting in the existing five separate almshouse charities and three grant-giving charities.
  • The Almshouse Charity
  • The Emily Payne and Elizabeth Saunders Homes
  • The Mary Newland's Almshouses
  • The John Roberts Almshouses
  • The Charity for Almspeople
  • The William Tyler Charity
  • The Stratford upon Avon Relief in Need Charity
  • St Joseph's Homestead

All eight charities are registered with the Charity Commission.
